Human Trafficking

Watch the video
This is a video for a class I am taking at Houghton College. It is an interview with Kristin Wiebe who is the Director of Anti-Trafficking for World Hope International about human trafficking. The background footage was provided by World Hope International. The music was provided by Kevin Jackson. Andy Parks helped with filming and I did the editing and the other filming. I don't think this is the final copy of the video but its a start. Enjoy.

Surfin' Houghton Style

Watch the video
Well, with tensions running high and exams looming, something has to be done. Why not take a surf board and go sledding with two great friends. With my camera out of commission my roommate used her camera to get some great shots. :)

The Rose

Watch the video
This is a music video I did for thehungr a long time ago...I think about two years now. I was looking through some old media for a project I'm doing and found it. Enjoy. Feel free to let me know what you think if you do watch the whole thing. I almost want to say this is what I cut my teeth on because this is really the first big video thing I did. Word of advice--if you don't know what your doing...don't start with an 18 camera angle music video.

Houghton Ultimate

Watch the video
Well....so I saw a sweet video blog today (http://davemedia.blogspot.com/)and had a great urge to edit something. I had the footage of our home tourney for awhile now so I figured I might put something together with it. Heres a look into what it means to play Ultimate Frisbee for Houghton College.

Class Project

Watch the video
This is a class project I did for Blogs Vlogs and Personal Media. Kinda funny. Thanks Daren!

The Fatherhood of God

Watch the video
This is a video I did for Dr. Cases Theological Explorations in Youth Culture and Media class. Our task was to introduce the idea of God as father and to explain it as if we were explaining it to teenagers in a ministry setting. This was the video I edited to introduce the topic to the class as well as to get them thinking. This is probably the final post of this as the full version and I feel I need to at least thank a few people that kinda made this all happen. I had some great help doing the interviews with Bethany....helpful critique from Dave Huth...and Kevin Jackson produced all of the music for me. Thanks to all who helped.

Did I Mullen President Mullen?

Watch the video
The past two weeks I have been involved with this comedy show at my college called SPOT. Students put together various things such as skits and videos for the rest of the student bodies enjoyment. While we were planning all of this I was editing a video for Advancement of my colleges president. With some coaxing from the hosts and some friends I decided to make a video to introduce her live interview at SPOT. This is the chaos that ensued. The fist cut was a debacle. This is the final video. A big huge thanks goes out to Dave Huth for the final edit. He says "video is a long collaborative process, you put a lot of time into it to" I say he deserves all the credit. Enjoy.

President Mullen Project

Watch the video
Well--this is the video I did for Houghton this week. I would just like to note that I didn't shoot the footage or capture the audio. I did the editing, Dave Huth helped me by keeping me sane and giving me a few ideas, Kevin Jackson produced the audio overnight to pull this project off.

Fall Retreat 2006 Commercial

Watch the video
Every year our youth group has an outreach event called the Fall Retreat. Its usually one of the highlights of the year. This year I was asked to make a commercial for it. I stole the editing style from a friend but I think it turned out pretty cool. Its probably the first video I have been excited about since the Boston Promo

Aussi Camp Highlight

Watch the video
This is just a brief post of the highlight video that I made for the camp I attended in Coolum Australia. 16 other Americans and I spent 3 weeks in Australia. One of the weeks included doing relational ministry at this camp. More to come when I can form better sentences. AKA I have really bad jet leg at an ear infection so it might be a day or two.

Allegany County Project

Okay. Not gonna lie, I have had tons of fun working with the Allegany County Sheriffs Department for this video project that I am doing for them. Today was the last day that I will be up there shooting. I'm reletivly sad about that. It was really fun getting to know the guys/women that are corrections offices are hang out/learn/hear stories. its been really eye-opening and I know for sure that I don't want to go to jail especially after I saw the guys in this picture take down a inmate. Crazy.

Prayer v. Verizon

Watch the video
Well. This is a video for Sunday at my church. Its kinda last minute so the audio isn't my best and the video was free hand. Still thought it was kinda cool and funny. The main actor is T-rev, previously mention as the funniest person I know. Its true.

KingdomBound Preview

Watch the video
This would be the preview of the project I am working on for admissons. The only reason this made it onto my blog is so they can see it because i am going to be off campus. It is not the final edit. It is not even close to the final edit so no bagging on my video skills unless its the shady camera work. The end. Music used by permission. thehungr

Well

Well I guess you could call today the first real class type thing I've done on the project so far. Today we went through the footage I shot on sat. at graduation. I was pleasantly surprised that it was somewhat good. It was kind of like reading a book. You know how to read a book but if someone explains to you what it takes to go into the reading of the book its super intense. and...i stink at metaphors.

I was never really taught how to video tape. I mean I took a class in high school and shot video for a year with my church. That would be the class I called tech services for my teacher in because he couldn't figure out how to turn the editing system on. Oh yeah and I taught my teacher about DI boxes in that class to. Joke. Casablanca Avio. Ha. Anyway it was really interesting to have my professor analyze what I shot in real language. Its one thing to have an eye for something and another to know why it looks good.

Anytime a professor beat boxes to illustrate a point..you know its going to be a good go at something (in his defense he's working on a big project and thus not getting a whole lot of sleep.) This is going to be extremely challenging and stretching but at least its going to be fun! And when I say challenging and stretching I mean in a good way. The only way to be able to snowboard black diamonds is to start on squares and fall trying.

Production Meeting

Well- we had our first production meeting today. We being my professor and I. It was great fun only to say that hey-let meet tomorrow at nine. Funny. I think the best part of the meeting was when he had to slide his notes under his office door because Houghton hadn't issued him keys yet. Go Houghton so typical.

Its coming to my attention that this project is going to stretch my knowledge of film and how it is done. I'm scared, nervous and excited all at the same time. Its going to be great haha.

In other news I spent the afternoon looking for transitions that I have on the G5 because Curt left them there. My favorite transition lately has been a thing called vapor across its really neat and it excites me because I just got it and installed it!!!! woot. I am really far far to excited about this. I'm a dork.

First Day

Wow-I guess this project is underway!

The first day of shooting started sat. at graduation. I realized I'm already am going to learn a ton! The day started off with what I assume will be typical...a production meeting to discuss shots etc. Definitely way more artistic than I'm used to. There is something a bit different from shooting kids puking than there is trying to get a good promo shot. I'm going to be learning so much. I'm really excited.
